Meetings
Regular meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM in the James F. Byrnes High School band room. The only exception is July when there is no meeting. You must be a member in good standing to participate in voting on club business.
History
The booster club for the James F. Byrnes Rebel Regiment was originally formed in the mid 1970s by band parents to provide resources to allow the band to expand their competition schedule. Back then, the band was forced to use yellow school buses as transportation. On one of the trips, a church bus was borrowed because there weren't enough of the yellow ones available. The idea for having our own buses was born when the church bus broke down between Duncan and Laurens because transportation should not be a limiting factor for our programs.
As of the 2004 season, the band has seven buses, two trucks, and three trailers. In the late 70s the original band truck was purchased and donated by Claude Cooper who was the band director at the time. The transportation group was started by Maurice Jones who passed away unexpectedly in July of 2004. Maurice was involved with the the purchase and upkeep of all the buses and trucks that are currently used by the band. His contributions are and will be sorely missed.
