Dear Parents of 8th Grade Band Students,

We would like to take this opportunity to advise you on the band classes that are available to your student. We of course wish to invite your student to become a member of the Rebel Regiment Marching Band. To be a member of the Marching Band we would require that your student take the following classes next year:

            For Wind and Percussion Students:

9th Regiment Band which will be for 90 min. a day in the spring and the Rebel Regiment Marching Band Class 1 which will also be 90 min. in the fall and will follow the schedule I have included in this mailing.

For Colorguard Students:

Colorguard Class by audition only along with Rebel

Regiment Marching Band Class 1

Possible substitute for 9th Regiment Band

Jazz Band – Spring only– along with Rebel Regiment

Marching Band Class 1 this is by recommendation of their

teacher in the 8th grade.

The Marching Band offers your student an opportunity of a lifetime with the travel and experiences they are afforded. In the past several years the Rebel Regiment has performed in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California, Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, Presidential Inaugural, and Pearl Harbor in Hawaii for the 63rd anniversary of the attack on December 7th, 1941. The Rebel Regiment has a record of success that is respected throughout South Carolina with 9 State Championships and 13 Upper State Championships.

If your student can not be in the marching band his or her time in band does not have to end in the 8th grade. We have several classes they can take and continue to play.

9th Regiment Band – open to ANY student in the 9th grade at

 Byrnes.

Jazz Band – Fall or Spring – this is by recommendation of their

teacher in the 8th grade.

Music and the Band is a great way for your student to fit in and become a part of the Byrnes Family.

Sincerely,

C. Phillip McIntyre
